Recognizing her, he bowed deeply before gesturing her inside. Grateful for the respite, she accepted. The moment she crossed the threshold, the chill of the world outside loosened its grip. She settled beside the hearth, the fire wrapping its warmth around her like an old friend, thawing the weight of her travels and the ache of memory. For a while, she simply breathed, savoring the peace of a place that had refused to be broken.
